You Said, We Did: Responding to Your Feedback
Thank you to all parents and carers who took the time to share their views. Your feedback helps us improve every aspect of school life. Here’s what you’ve told us—and what we’re doing in response:
Wellbeing, Safety & Inclusion
You Said:
Children need to feel safe and settled before they can learn—especially new pupils. Bullying isn’t always dealt with effectively, and some children feel they aren’t heard.
We Did:
- New pupils receive buddy support, wellbeing check-ins, and targeted pastoral support.
- Staff trained by WAMHS on managing transitions and anxiety.
- Parents are signposted to wellbeing support services.
- Our behaviour approached are regularly reviewed, and all staff received refresher training.
- Pupil-led initiatives promote safe, respectful playground spaces.
- Regular inclusion meetings address concerns quickly and consistently.
Communication & Parent Involvement
You Said:
There could be more communication between home and school. Parents want more chances to give feedback and take part in school life.
We Did:
- Teachers now share updates regularly via Seesaw and social media.
- A half-termly events newsletter is shared in advance—and dates won’t change.
- We’re exploring new ways to collect parent feedback, including via social media.
- More workshops and events have been added, with varied days/times to help more parents attend.
- Our new PTA is helping shape community events.
- We’re strengthening our work with the Children’s Centre to reach more families.
Social & Emotional Development
You Said:
There’s sometimes too much focus on academic outcomes and not enough on social growth or friendships.
We Did:
- Parents now get more information about their child’s social development at parents’ evenings.
- Staff are receiving regular training on supporting peer relationships and emotional wellbeing.
- We continue to grow our pastoral team to support every child’s wellbeing and development.
Play & Lunchtime Improvements
You Said:
Some Year 4 children were seen playing unsafely. Children also said there wasn’t always enough food or choice at lunch.
We Did:
- Increased adult supervision in known playground hotspots.
- Safe play is part of our PSHE curriculum and reinforced in regular play assemblies.
- OPAL play ensures staff support children to manage their own risks safely.
- Lunchtime menus were reviewed with our caterer—now with daily vegetarian and salad options.
- A pupil-led “Taster Panel” will give feedback on meals.
- A consultant chef visited to review food quality and portion sizes.
And Finally…
You Said:
It’s a great school—and we want it to keep getting better!
We Did:
Thank you! Your continued support means the world. We’re committed to listening, improving, and working together to give every child the best possible experience.
Sustainability Squad
Our Sustainability Squad have been busy with Ms Irene this week. They have delivered new switch off lights posters and bin labels to each classroom. They explained to the children what dry recycling is and where to throw different waste.
They have also been busy preparing an assembly for next week, to mark clean air day. Our no idling banner has gone up, to remind all to switch off engines!
Headlice Help
As you may know we’ve had a few cases of headlice reported in school recently. While headlice are a common issue, we know they can be frustrating for families.
Our school nurse has shared this website – Bug Busters – as a source of useful information on how to tackle headlice and nits, including a video on effective wet-combing.
Attendance Classes of The Week
This week, we want to celebrate 4S who have 100% attendance. A HUGE congratulations and keep up the excellent work, it has a great impact on learning and progress. You can help your child’s class win the weekly fruit platter by making sure they are at school everyday.
Our next group of 100% attendance winners were very happy to receive their prizes today.
