Kench Hill

This week, our Year 6 children had an unforgettable experience at the Kench Hill residential trip. This annual adventure gave them a chance to explore new surroundings, build friendships, and learn outside of the classroom in a beautiful rural setting.

Throughout the week, the children engaged in a variety of exciting activities aimed at building confidence, fostering teamwork, and learning new skills. They embarked on refreshing woodland walks during the day and evening, where they explored local wildlife, practised navigation skills, and enjoyed a lively disco to show off their dance moves. Highlights included bread-making, a trip to the beach, bonfire building, and go-karting. Evenings were spent gathered around a campfire, playing games, singing songs, and dancing together.

During our trip to Rye Harbour beach, the kids had a fantastic time playing in the sand, sculpting, flying kites, and trying their hand at French cricket. They even learned a new dance—the June Jump! Other exciting activities included archery, which added to the adventure of an unforgettable week.

The trip was a brilliant opportunity for Year 6 to develop independence, gain confidence, and make memories together. A huge thank you to all the staff who made this trip possible.

Anti-Bullying Week

This week, our school dedicated time and activities to Anti-Bullying Week, raising awareness about kindness, inclusion, and the impact of bullying. Each day brought new opportunities for children and staff to engage in important discussions and meaningful actions to promote a positive school environment. Throughout the week all classes engaged in a workshop, odd sock day activities, kindness challenges and assemblies.

Children in Need

Thank you to everyone who came to school dressed in their pyjamas and helped raise money for BBC Children in Need! It was fantastic to see so many children and staff showing their support by coming in the PJs for such a great cause. Together, we raised an impressive total of £226!

Your generous contributions will go a long way in supporting children and young people across the UK, helping provide essential funding for mental health services, educational resources, and community projects. This event really highlighted the caring spirit of our school, and we are so proud of everyone’s involvement.

Being late to school

At Morningside Primary School, we strive to arrive on time every day, as arriving late can negatively impact your child’s attendance.

Attend Today, Achieve Tomorrow!

5 minutes late each day = 3 days lost! 10 minutes late each day = 6.5 days lost! 15 minutes late each day 10 days lost!

Our school day starts at 8.45am and the school gate closes at 9.00am. Give your child the best opportunity to achieve and ensure they arrive at school ready for learning.

Play update

We have had a great week in our playground this week. Children have loved exploring the new toys that have been donated. Thank you so much to those parents that have donated. If you have a clear out of toys or any of the other items we mention on the bingo card, please donate to the school even if we haven’t specifically asked for them at that particular time; we are always grateful. Children have also been making dens and exploring building their own hiding spaces. We have had a focus on ensuring we are always playing safely. Please talk to your children about what safe play looks like and their favourite places to play in the playground.
