Message from Rachel and Jo
It’s been another great week at Morningside!
Reception, Year 2 and Year 4 took part in the Hackney Music Festival and absolutely wowed us all with their brilliant singing and impeccable behaviour — their rendition of Wonderwall was a real highlight; we have enjoyed hearing it in the playground all week.
Looking ahead, the temperature is due to rise again next week. Please make sure your child comes to school with a hat, water bottle and sunscreen applied in the morning. If the temperature exceeds 30°C, we will keep children indoors during lunchtime for their safety.
We’re also looking forward to our Summer Fete next Friday, 4th July. The PTA would really appreciate volunteers to help set up from 2pm — please let them know if you can lend a hand.
And finally, you’ll find details of your child’s new class teacher for next year in this newsletter — we hope you’re as excited as we are!

Classes for Next Year
Below you will find an update of our staffing arrangements for the coming academic year. Please click on the image to enlarge it. While we will do our best to keep these arrangements in place, they may be subject to change.
Parents of current Year 2 children will receive a separate email to let you know which class your child will join in Year 3.
We will be holding a ‘Meet your new teacher’ event for parents on Monday 14th July at 3:45pm.
ChessFest – Sunday 13th July, Trafalgar Square
Is your child a budding chess grandmaster? Join the excitement at ChessFest 2025, a free family event in Trafalgar Square with giant chess sets, live performances, puzzle challenges, and professional lessons for all ages. Watch masters play blitz and blindfold chess, challenge a champion, and cheer on London in a live match against Hull – all broadcast on a giant screen!

School Uniform Discounts
We know that many families like to stock up on school uniform over the summer holidays ready for the new school year.
The following retailers are offering discounts on school uniform:
- Sainsbury’s Tu clothing – 20% off all uniform
- Aldi‘s back-to-school £5 bundle (two polo shirts, a sweatshirt or cardigan, and trousers, skirt or cargo shorts) will be available in store from 29th June 2025.
- Lidl‘s back-to-school bundle (two polo shirts and a sweatshirt, and a pair of trousers, shorts or a skirt) is also £5 and will be in store from 3rd July 2025.
We will let you know if we hear of any other good offers.

This week, we want to celebrate 1S who have 97.7% attendance. A HUGE congratulations and keep up the excellent work, it has a great impact on learning and progress. You can help your child’s class win the weekly fruit platter by making sure they are at school everyday.
