Message from Rachel and Jo

We are delighted to inform you that Morningside has been given the Tender Re:Set Healthy Champion School Award. Over the past 18 months,  we have been working with an organisation called Tender on the RE:SET programme. Staff have all been trained on supporting children with their relationships as well as those who may have experienced difficulties in their lives. Tender have also delivered workshops in a number of classes. The final part of the project was a Healthy Friendships campaign which a group of year 6s have delivered to the whole school. Here is a photo of the children with the award and their poster of the campaign.

The aims of the Tender project are reflected in Morningside life. For instance, this week’s assembly theme has been ‘kindness’. We enjoyed sharing the book ‘Be Kind’ by Pat Zietlow Miller. We decided that kindness meant being caring, helpful, and thoughtful to others, showing you care about their feelings and needs.

We hope that you all have a lovely weekend.

Jo and Rachel

Shine Bright, Wear Bright for Children’s Mental Health

Next week is Children’s Mental Health Week and the children will be taking part in Emotional Wellbeing workshops led by Young Hackney. We would like children to wear brightly coloured clothing on Friday 7th February so that we can join in ‘shining bright, to shine a light’ on the importance of children’s mental wellbeing.

Eco Swap

Thank you to everyone who donated to or attended the Eco Swap on Friday. It was lovely to see so many people enjoying the event and saving so many items from landfill. We’d also like to thank Ms Irene and the children from the Sustainability Squad and all the other staff who helped to organise and run the event.

Jewellery

For health and safety reasons and the potential risk of loss, Morningside Primary School discourages the wearing of any jewellery for pupils. The ONLY jewellery pupils are permitted to wear are small stud earrings and a watch. Please, ensure that your child/ren leaves any other jewellery at home. If your child wears an item of jewellery for religious observance, please speak to a member of staff before or after school.

Parent Feedback

Thank you to those of you who have already completed the survey. It is much appreciated. The survey closes this week and then we will take time to reflect upon and respond to all the points raised.

If you have not already done so, please take a few moments to complete our parental feedback form. Your suggestions and perspectives will play an important role in shaping our plans and ensuring we continue to provide the best possible experience for all our children.
